Happy New Year, 2021

I attempt to set resolutions every year, but they are not true resolutions, just my plan to accomplish something.

In 2020, I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped. I met my reading goal. I went back to school for real classes.

I didn’t do as well on my fitness goals, but there was a lot going on.

For 2021, I’m going to attempt similar goals. I’ll increase my reading goal to 110. I’m going to attempt classes at the University level. My exercise goals are going to depend on what is acceptable in the county, but I’ll be working on that plan once things clear up a bit. I plan on at least one blog post a day and to get What Are You Reading Wednesday out weekly. I plan on getting back to my adventures when I can, including taking two trips this year, if it’s safe to do so.

I feel like my goals aren’t as lofty as they have been in past years, but after the way 2020 went, I want to be sure I can meet the goals that I set. Not too easy, not too hard.

Wrapping up 2020

As 2020 comes to an end, here are my thoughts on the things I’ve accomplished.

I attempted a post every day, but I fell a little short at the beginning of the Fall semester. I think I came pretty close, though.

I attempted to post What Are You Reading every Wednesday. I missed a couple, but I came close. This was because once we started sheltering in place, I lost my internal calendar and had no idea what day of the week it was a lot.

I attended online bookclubs when I could. I didn’t finish a lot of the books, but I got to know a lot of the people. I also found out that Inky loves Zoom meetings and usually will sit happily on or near me during them.

I came nowhere near the health and exercise goals this year. It didn’t help that the gym and pool areas were closed.

I exceeded my reading goal of 100 books. When I set the goal, I was expecting to read and review several children’s books, so 100 wasn’t as high as I made it seem. I read 101 books as of December 20, but many of them were read before I hit my slump in March. I managed to get back to it and finish up the year.

I think I did fairly well, all things considered, but I could have done better. Next years goals are set, but I didn’t aim too high. I wanted achievable but not too easy. They’ll be published tomorrow.

Scheduling ahead

Part of my New Year’s resolution was to post daily here. Because I finally figured out how to schedule posts, I have managed to do it for the entire month of January. I get the post written and scheduled and it’ll pop up, fully written, a few days later. I have posts scheduled for the next few weeks. Some days, I have two or three posting a day. At least I can keep part of my resolution, and the app makes it easy to do. I can ramble in advance.
