I got in my car after work today and it started pouring. Great. I had a todo list. But, then again, I always have a todo list.
My first stop was at UPS. It had stopped raining for a bit, so I think everyone decided to get errands done. I had to skip it because there was no parking. Tomorrow.
Next stop was the grocery store. I got in and out quickly. It started to rain again as my daughter and I unloaded the groceries. She brought them into the kitchen while I ran out to return library books.
I got home, put the groceries away after doing a quick fridge clean out. I got the dishwasher running, took the garbage, compost and recycling out to the bin and the bins to the curb. I swept the entry way to the house and got laundry moved along.
By the time I got to lunch, I was drenched and cold. I ate a little and then decided to do the best thing for a rainy day. I hopped into the shower and got into pjs. I got my Snuggie and Inky decided it looked comfy. She joined me for cuddles. I finished a book and relaxed while I warmed up. The perfect way to end a rainy day, I believe.
This is supposed to be for meditation and relaxation, but it doesn’t work that way. There’s a man’s voice that is very jarring, not relaxing at all, that suddenly interrupts the relaxing sounds of the crystal bowls. He throws out instructions to breathe with the high bowl and the low bowl sounds. The pitch that’s chosen for the high and low bowl sounds is almost like an alarm clock. I dozed a bit while listening, but every time the high bowl sound came on, it woke me. Every time the man spoke, it woke me. This definitely isn’t the relaxation recording for me.
I have been sick for a while. I am almost better, but I had been sick enough that I didn’t feel like reading or blogging. All the blog posts that went up had been written before and scheduled to post automatically.
While I was sick, I barely watched TV, even. Friends reruns are great, because I didn’t feel guilty about falling asleep during them, since I’ve seen them all, multiple times.
I was supposed to go to a Super Bowl party today, but I figured that I should probably get the rest I needed instead. My plan was to stay at home and read.
Inky thought this was a great plan. She stole my Snuggie and snuggled up next to me. Mini even stooped low enough to lie down at the foot of the bed. This was great until I had to go to the bathroom. I got up and all feline visitors went flying off the bed.
When I returned from the bathroom, I found both cats in my spot. They were actually surprised that I wanted it back. Did they think I was going to attempt to sleep in the cat bed?
I haven’t finished any books today, but I’m making progress on several. I am hoping to get my next bookclub book finished by the weekend. We’ll find out. There might be napping going on today, too.
After work on Friday, I drove back up to the condo for the last weekend away. I crashed dinner with my mom and her cousins and a friend. I ordered something I normally don’t, lamb shank, and ate half, and brought the other half back for lunch the next day.
On Saturday morning, I spent time by the pool. See how crowded it was?
I spent time listening to a family yell at a girl who was about 8 years old. They were trying to teach her to dive. The kid was the only one with a valid point. “It’s too shallow. Diving isn’t allowed here.” The adults had the argument, “We’ve done the Iron Man. We know what we’re doing.” Well, 1) just because you’ve done it, doesn’t mean you can coach it and 2) I don’t recall a diving portion of the Iron Man.
What the shower would look like if I had none of my products in it.
The preseason football games were on Saturday evening, so my mom and her cousin and I did a puzzle while the cousin’s husband watched the game. It took us longer than we thought, so we had to work on it the next morning.
I couldn’t leave before I finished the puzzle.
I packed up the car and went home. I stopped at the grocery store to do meal prepping for breakfasts and lunches for the week. I also made dinner and cleaned up a bit.
I went to bed exhausted, with a long todo list for the week. I started it the moment I opened my eyes Monday morning.
It’ll be another year before I go back. It was a nice relaxing time, even though I didn’t get as much reading done as I thought I would.
