Suffragette

**Spoiler alert**

Suffragette history

YouTube video of the 1913 Derby

I recently watched the movie, Suffragette, on Netflix. I was halfway through it before I realized it was based on true events. I linked an article about the final event and a YouTube video of actual footage of the final event above. Don’t open them if you haven’t seen the movie. They do contain spoilers.

I was fascinated by the fact that I knew so little about this. I find that I learn more and more daily. I just keep looking things up and in this case, it was well worth the effort.

Thunder Force

I saw the ads for Thunder Force. It was on Netflix. Woohoo! I love the cast of the film – Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, and Jason Bateman. How can this be bad?

I loved the film, but mostly because I really didn’t need to think about much with it. It was funny, and the plot was predictable. I don’t think it will win any awards, but it entertained me.

Dear White People

I started watching this series after I got multiple recommendations from various sources. I sat down and watched the first episode. It had a lot going on, and I wasn’t too sure that I was going to like the series. I gave the second episode a shot, because I figured that there are so many people watching it and recommending it, it must be good. I was hooked at the second episode.

I have just started the third season, after loving seasons one and two. I love how each episode has a different main character, and the story flows from his or her point of view.

There is still a lot going on and there are a lot of characters to keep track of, but it is definitely worth watching. The little mysteries that come up every season are worth it, and mostly not silly. They aren’t like Scooby Doo type mysteries, but they keep your attention while you are trying to figure them out.

The series is well worth watching!

The Bling Ring

This was a movie that popped up on the Netflix movie list I posted a while ago. I am checking them off one by one. The movie was not very thought provoking. It just was a movie about spoiled high school students who ran a robbery ring in the homes of celebrities. From what I understand, it was part of a true story.

The movie was entertaining and didn’t take much thought. It was good to watch when I had finished homework and had enough thinking for the day.

Best Movies on Netflix Now

Best movies on Netflix

The spacing on this list isn’t ideal, but you’ll get the idea. This is a list of the best movies on Netflix right now. Many of them are on my list to see someday. I have seen a lot of them already. They look like good movies, and are worth watching, for the most part. I am partial to Kevin Smith and Monty Python, myself. I was disappointed that only one of each of theirs showed up on the list.

Irish Musicals

Irish musicals

I came across the above linked article on St Patrick’s Day. I started looking at them and realized that I hadn’t seen The Commitments in years. I tried to find it on Netflix, but it’s not available unless I rent it. I did end up finding the series Derry Girls which is pretty entertaining. I’ll probably get that finished before the social distancing is finished.
