Why I Replaced My Kindle

Why I Replaced My Kindle

I loved the above linked article. It tells about the wonders of the Kindle.

As you know, I love my Kindle. I can carry most of my books with me wherever I go. I do audiobooks on my commute, so that helps me get through a lot more books than I normally would, but my kindle helps me get through a lot more, especially now that I can’t check out physical library books.

I’m so glad that I found another kindle lover with the author of the article. I know there are more of you out there. Speak up!

What I forgot to pack

I went away for a weekend with the family. I live with them, so it’s not a big deal with the shelter in place orders. The place where we are has a pool, with strict rules of use. I go in and do my laps and get out. No dawdling. Wash down everything that was used.

Normally, I would sit down and read a book poolside. This trip, nope. Other than the rules not really allowing it without wearing a mask, I forgot my book!

I forgot my book! How could I do that? I do have my Kindle, but I don’t really want it out by the pool. I also have my textbook for my class, which is technically what I am supposed to be reading. It is rented though, so that doesn’t go out near water, either.

I am headed home to get back to work for a training for a couple of days. I’ll come back up after repacking. Hopefully this time I’ll remember the paper book. I am sure I’ll forget something else, though.

Can you please review my book?

I am used to authors asking me to review their books. I am usually honored to be asked. Lately, I have been warning the authors and publishers that I am behind and while I’m willing to read the books, I’m probably not getting to it for a while. Most of the time, they send me a copy of the book anyway. I am honest. It’s really going to be a while before I get them read and reviewed. A few I’ve read and rated but haven’t reviewed yet. Full disclosure up front.

Today I got a message from an author, asking for a review. I gave her my usual response. Sure. I’ll read it, but I have several months of books to finish before I can get to it. She said ok and sent me a link to her book. “It’s on Kindle Unlimited.” Well, that’s new. No problem, though, since I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, but they are usually emailed or mailed to me.

The funny part, though, is the book’s topic – Procrastination. Yea yea. I’ll get to it.

Catching up with reading, feline edition

I have several books that have impending deadlines. Some are library books that need to go back. Some are for bookclub that is coming up soon. Some are just to get my book stack to a reasonable level.

I have little on today’s agenda, so I plan on making progress on multiple books today.

Inky has decided to help. Partly to keep me in place, on task, and partly as my book holder.

I am reading a chapter or writing a post then moving on to the next book’s chapter or another blog post. I hope to actually finish a book or two today, along with laundry and other chores.

Off to a good start?

I wrote my what are you reading Wednesday post earlier this week, and figured out how to schedule it. I planned on touching it up a bit before actually posting it, but it decided it was good enough. All the info was there, but it wasn’t exactly in complete sentences. It got posted on Wednesday, and that was my goal for the year. So, I guess I started out ok.

I am really enjoying my kindle/library book and hope to finish it today. I woke up because of coughing from asthma and allergies, so I cancelled my other plans for today.

Today isn’t going to be as much of an adventure as I thought, but I can at least attempt productivity. I managed to feed the cats so far. They appreciated it.

Happy 2020!

What Are You Reading Wednesday

This week’s audiobook is by Jeanne Gaffigan. When Life Gives You Pears. I am really enjoying it, and I’ll be finishing it quickly.

This week’s Kindle book is A Royal Christmas Wish. I started it for a bookclub, but I won’t be able to make the bookclub, so I will relax about finishing it by a certain time.

I have a few library books almost finished and I’ll be ready to return them soon.

I still have books to finish to make my goal of 120 books for the year. I need to get my reading time scheduled. And my gym time, but that’s another matter.

What Are You Reading Wednesday

This was a crazy week, so Wednesday’s post is happening on Saturday. Again, better late than never.

I have two audiobooks going. One I started because none of the books I had on hold came through. That one is Thirty Year Crisis. I am not loving it.

The other audiobook is The Life We Bury. Bookclub is Sunday. I hope I can finish in time. I have three hours left in it, and a hour long drive, each way to my bookclub party tonight.

I am still working on the Alcatraz book from the library.

I have Perfect Princess by Meg Cabot going, and A Royal Christmas Wish is for bookclub on the 18th. Both are on the kindle.

I have 9 books to go to finish my annual goal. Hopefully, these five will get me close to being finished.

So, what are you reading

Again, I missed Wednesday’s post, so Friday will have to do.

I am finishing up Magic for Liars which was for bookclub last week. It’s on audiobook, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I am finishing up my Kindle book, Enchanted Ever After. It’s the latest in the Enchanted, Inc series, and I have loved every one of the books so far, including this one.

I am still working on the library book about Alcatraz. I may finish it this weekend.

I have to choose a book stack book to get done. They are starting to take over. It kind of reminds me of The Blob.
