A few of the movie theaters near me do discounted tickets on Tuesdays. I have been taking advantage of it, since I am on break from school.
I have seen Aladdin, Godzilla, Rocketman, MIB, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Late Night. I can’t remember all of them I’ve seen so far, but for $5, it was worth the money. The theaters are packed. They are good movies that play.
The only downside is that the theater is right by the bookstore. I preordered a book on Monday, expecting it to be in on Tuesday. Nope. Not until Wednesday. Darn. I had to go poke around the bookstore anyhow, and bought another book.
It is also near the library, but I didn’t go in there last night.
I have to get the books read so I have room for new ones. I have started a new book stack on the other side of the bed. It’s mostly library books, but my own books are leaking in. I will get to them!
I was at Breakfast with Daisy Jones and the Six. The server came up to me and asked how the book was, excited when she saw the title. I gave her a vague “it reads like a Rolling Stones article.” She asked if I meant that it just goes on without real chapters and then said she’s been wanting to read it. I was surprised she knew what I meant, but I am guessing she had heard about the book.
Later, after three cups of coffee, she came back and asked me if I’d like more coffee. I didn’t say what I wanted to, which was “sure, if you’d like me to stay here and you have to deal with me bouncing off the walls all day.” I just declined a fourth cup. She offered me water. Maybe she read my mind?
I left there considering bringing the book to her when I finish it. I know where she works, so I suppose I could. I wonder if she’d appreciate it.
This is what my brain looks like lately. The only difference is the non-book related area is a little bigger, and in list form. And it would say “today’s books” since I always have more than one book going.
When I realized that I’d have time off school, and would have some evenings to myself, I started making plans with friends and family.
After work today, I wandered over to my sister/friend and her sons. We had lunch. We had a relaxing afternoon with the dogs and cats and kids. We had a group activity of removing a sock from the vacuum cleaner hose.
They had to go off to ice skating lessons so I wandered off to the gym. I took a brief nap in the car. The gym was near where I was meeting another friend for a movie, so it was a new gym to me. I found out there was a pool, but I hadn’t expected it and left my swimming stuff in the car. I found the women’s locker room and locked my bag and car keys in a locker. I went in search of a treadmill.
I did my mile on the treadmill and made progress on my ARC book. I went back downstairs to retrieve my stuff. There was one person in the locker room. Sitting in front of the locker holding my things. Eating a yogurt. Very slowly. I don’t really understand this phenomena. Entire locker room. One person. In front of the locker you’re using. It happens all the time. I tried to open the locker. I got a very dirty look. At least I didn’t have to change out of my swimsuit with her sitting there.
I wandered over toward the movie theater. With all the driving, I made progress on my audiobook. I may finish it tomorrow. I got out of the car and walked around the mall a bit. They are getting a Koja here! Small things excite me.
I got our tickets and sat in the lobby to read. A woman approached me to ask if I was in the movie club. No. But that sounds like fun. (Like I need something else to do.) We chatted for a while since we were both waiting. I got another book recommendation. Red Rising. I don’t know how this always happens. But, I always add to my book stack and my to be read list.
The movie, Gloria Bell, started. It was very odd and disjointed. My friend and I both hated it. Thankfully, it was only a $5 movie. I got to see my friend, so that part was good.
Also, I really might finish my audiobook tomorrow. Less than two hours to go!
I get my books from a variety of sources. Because the majority of my books are on Kindle, and from bookbub or fussy librarian (freebies and cheap), the majority of my books come from Amazon. When a book comes up for bookclub, I look at the library first. If it’s going to be a long wait, I will look on Amazon next. Usually, I can wait for the library hold, though.
I look at the library book sales for series pieces that I need to finish. I have several series where I have books 1 & 3, and I keep looking for 2. I am patient, unless I am mid series. Most of these books are $1 each, so it’s worth the effort.
I can’t wander past a bookstore without going in. I tend to purchase at least one book whenever I go in, and it’s usually something I’ve been contemplating for a while.
Finally, I have a book of the month subscription, where I get the new releases.
I use a variety of sources to fulfill my need for books. My book addiction.
