PBS great American Read

Little WomenLittle Women by Louisa May Alcott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have seen so many versions of the movie, and each was a little different. I wanted to read the book to see how the story actually goes.

I enjoyed the book a lot, but I realized how so many of the stories in the book were missed in each of the movies. Some of the movies combined several stories. This is understandable, since the book was so long. The story in the book makes a lot more sense.

The book is definitely worth reading, but it does take a long time to get through.

Jane Eyre – Charlotte Brontë

This is yet another one that shows up on several lists and posts. I read it because it had been referenced so many times in many settings – books, movies, tv shows, everyday conversation. I enjoyed the book a lot, and now I understand the references. It showing up on so many lists makes it even more enjoyable, since I can check it off the lists.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Roald Dahl

This book has popped up on several lists and I’ve posted about it a few times, with the links below.  I’m starting my posts from the newest lists with it, since it’s popping up over and over.  Even though it’s a children’s book, it is definitely worth a read.  I would even go as far as recommending the movies.  It’s a great story, but has an awful sequel.
