Dr. Faustus by Christopher Marlowe

This was required reading for school. I hadn’t heard of the play before reading it, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I wasn’t expecting it to be so gloomy, though. With the topic, I don’t know why I was expecting it to be more cheery.
It’s worth reading to know the story, but maybe reading a synopsis could do the same thing.
