Why Zoom Exhausts Us

The above linked article tells about why Zoom meetings are so exhausting. It’s written by a teacher, but a lot of it applies to everyone.

I have had multiple Zoom meetings for a variety of things. School work is important. I usually make time for that class. I have missed one because I just couldn’t handle one more thing that day.

I have done online bookclubs, which are mostly great, because right now, they aren’t about a specific book. Just talking and catching up with our fellow book lovers. Sometimes, those are a little much, too. Unfortunately, I have had to leave them a tad early, because they overlap with the school meetings.

I have attempted coffee and cocktail hours on Zoom. They are great if there are only a few people on them. If there are more than 10 or so, my brain can’t handle it at all. There’s too much to keep track of.

I can’t imagine how the teachers are handling it all, especially with the younger children and their parents, especially if they have their own children to help at home. Teachers are amazing! Thank you, teachers. And, thank you Zoom and the other programs that are being used out of necessity. Who knew it would come to this?
