You had to look up a word?

I was talking to someone who was not a native English speaker. He pulled out the word “coterie” in conversation. I hadn’t heard it, so I looked it up. Apparently, it’s similar to “clique” but I don’t use that word very often, either.

I mentioned to a friend that I hadn’t heard it before, so I looked it up. Her response was “You? Looked up a word?” Yes, I did. No shame in looking it up. This is how we learn. Asking questions and finding the answers.

I read a lot, yes, but I don’t feel like I have a big vocabulary. I know that I change up a lot of what I say, depending on who I am talking to. I write pretty much the same way I talk, but slower. I don’t change my wording here, though, because I figure that most of the readers here wouldn’t be reading a book blog if they didn’t read. Plus, anyone reading this can take the time to look up any big words I use. I don’t think I use very many, though.
